Distribution: Wide distribution from western Africa to western Norway. Distinguishing features: Distinguished from other European gobys by the fact that the 4 spine in the first dorsal finn is the longest. Old males are blueish black. Length: Maksimum length is 17cm. Habitat: Lives on sand and silty localities, mor uncommon on hard substrate between algae. Biology: Matures in 2 years. Spawning in May. The eggs (6000) are guarded by the male in roof of burrow.
