Mouthbreeding of
Cardinalfish
This cardinalfish is called
"Miyako-ishimochi" in J,whose scientific name is
"Apogon ishigakiensis".
Cardinalfishes are well known as mothbreeders.
Males incubates the eggs in their mouth until they hatch.
The incubating individuals are shyer than others.
So,it's hard to take their heads-on shot,what is worse,they don't always open
their mouth.
There were only several chances to get scenes like this during one dive.
Happily,I could get the photo. But only one cut was seccessful.
